What time should I arrive to the ceremony by?

Answer

Doors will be open at 4:30. Please plan to be seated by 4:50 as the ceremony will begin promptly at 5:00.

Are the ceremony and reception indoors or outdoors?

Answer

All indoors. Ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing are inside.

Is the venue accessible?

Yes - there’s an ADA entrance to the building and for all rooms.

What’s the weather like in late July?

Answer

Philly is typically warm-to-hot and a bit humid. Expect highs in the mid–upper 80s°F and evenings near 70°F.

What is the Divine Lorraine Hotel?

Answer

The Divine Lorraine started in the 1890s as fancy apartments and later became home base for Father Divine’s Peace Mission. In 1948, it made history as Philadelphia’s first fully integrated hotel and became a cornerstone in the city’s Black community and a national symbol of progress. Today, the building has apartments and restaurants, including Cicala. Cicala is run by a husband-and-wife Italian duo who bring incredible food and a lot of heart.

Where should I stay if I’m not in the hotel block?

Answer

The short answer is wherever you want! Our block is at The Sonesta, but there are plenty of great spots nearby, including Center City, Rittenhouse, and Old City.
