Over the Thanksgiving holiday in 2018, Shaina was aimlessly scrolling on Instagram and stumbled across Adam’s profile. She realized they had a few mutual friends and requested to follow him, not thinking anything of it. Adam eventually saw Shaina’s request and accepted it. While creeping on Shaina’s profile, he realized she had pictures posted in Harrisburg and Baltimore. Adam, intrigued, decided to shoot his shot and slide into Shaina’s DMs (direct messages, for those not up to date with their technology lingo). It all started with the safe pick-up line of “Hey, from Harrisburg but live in Baltimore?”. The conversation quickly revealed they were from the same hometown, attended rival high schools and lived in Baltimore. Small. World. They agreed to grab drinks at Mama’s on the Half Shell in Canton. Conversation and drinks were flowing, both enjoying one another’s company. The night ended with a cliche date closure “I had a great time with you, let’s do something soon.”. Both not entirely sure what would be in store for them. Eventually, they met for their second date, at their now favorite Italian restaurant, Tagliata. With charcuterie, pasta, wine, espresso martinis, and an undeniable connection, Adam (being in sales) decided to seal the deal with a goodnight kiss. One DM, two dates, three years later and a lifetime of love.
After dating for a little more than two years, Adam and Shaina undoubtedly felt they found their person. The first thing Adam had to do was ask Shaina's father for his blessing. While home on March 19, Adam planned a lunch with her dad to watch March Madness at one of her family’s favorite restaurants, Gilligan’s. With a little liquid courage, Adam expressed his love and admiration for Shaina. On behalf of both of her parents, they happily gave Adam their blessing to marry their daughter (no take backs). Next up: asking Shaina the real question. On a chilly Saturday evening, April 24, Adam and Shaina were getting ready for their “treat yourselves” double date with Reed and Audrey Hagmann. It was their tradition to kick off date night with pre-dinner cocktails. The couples had decided to meet at Ampersea prior to their reservation at Rec Pier Chop House. Reed and Audrey claimed they would be late due to traffic, so Adam and Shaina ordered the first round. Little did Shaina know, there was no traffic. As time grew closer to their reservation, the temperature feeling cooler and Shaina starting to show her hangry side, Adam decided to close out the tab. Knowing Shaina the way he does, Adam suggested they take a picture by the water. On their stroll along the waterfront in Fells Point, Adam started to explain to Shaina how she was the love of his life and how he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. He pulled out the ring, got down on one knee and said,”Shaina Lyn Mensh, will you marry me and make me the happiest man?” Without hesitation, Shaina gave Adam the easiest answer, yes! Just when Shaina thought Adam’s surprise was finished, they arrived at the Sagamore Pendry to see all of their family and friends there with champagne in hand ready to celebrate!
