Nate and Katie met in 2014 through a mutual friend (shoutout to Ash) during their time at Biola University. They instantly connected and Nate had always thought Katie was "soooo beautiful". Their friendship continued through the next five years and when they found themselves at the same mutual friend's wedding, they realized they had something special. The next year was filled with lots of airports and adventures as they navigated long distance with Katie in Southern California and Nate in Indiana finishing up his nursing program at Purdue. They saw each other any chance they could and the moment Nate graduated, they did a cross-country road trip to get him back to the west coast before finally both settling up in Oregon together.
They planned a camping trip to Mt. Rainier National Park. Nate had it planned out with all of the arrangements made. Katie unknowingly threw him a curveball by asking if their cute pup Tucker could come with. Not wanting to raise too many questions or gain suspicion, he agreed...and then had to rebook all of their accommodations as pet-friendly. On a hike to the base of the mountain, Nate was inconspicuously searching for the perfect place to pop the question. After climbing 2,000 ft of elevation, Katie was trying to push through the exhaustion and appear like she wasn't desperately trying to breathe when Nate said he needed to stop off and take a break from hiking (at the prettiest point of the mountain!) While preparing to pose for a picture together, Nate got down on one knee and gave the perfect speech...just kidding he cried his eyes out. Katie said yes through her own tears of joy and together they finished their first hike as fiancé and fiancée.
