It was July 2020. The peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Nikki had just purchased her condo on Cheesman Park in Denver and was in desperate need of better carpet. After a frustrating experience with Lowe’s (take note!), Colleen, the mother of the bride, stepped in to find assistance, and ended up on the phone with one Conner Cremers. Immediately after hanging up, she called Nikki and told her that she’d just spoken to the nicest young man, “who sounded incredibly handsome on the phone”. After canceling Nikki’s measurement the day before, he finally showed up to measure the rooms, and wooed her with his masked face and hungover demeanor. Insisting she come in to select her color, to which her mother firmly suggested she “put on some real pants and do your makeup, this may be your last chance to meet a decent man”, a five minute decision turned into an hour of conversation. As she prepared to leave, Conner asked if she would like to go out sometime (thank you jeans and mascara!). She accepted. He then clarified, “it will be a few weeks since I have to wait until your order is fulfilled” (always a professional). Twenty minutes after her carpet was installed, he followed up on the end result, AND that date. She accepted, and after seeing each other sans masks for the first time, they went to mini golf, talked for hours, and the rest was history.
