We met in college and became best friends quickly. With our competitive and driven personalities, we were always ready to go toe to toe, whether it was in class, student government or dancing on the Raas team. We spent the years in college learning from each other, learning about each other and growing together. Our friendship has created the foundation of our relationship and partnership that started all the way back in 2013.
After college we decided that our bond was only the start of something more. We initially had to navigate a long distance relationship, as Parth had just started his career in New York City working round the clock and Rishita was attending law school AND working full time in Connecticut. Between the long hours, study sessions and 3 hour commutes, we spent the weekends together falling deeper in love. The busy years between 2017 and 2020 helped us learn how to meaningfully support each other's independent goals and dreams while growing our relationship.
Rishita had just graduated from law school & taken the Connecticut Bar Exam. She was looking forward to a stress free girls night in the city with one of her best friends and bridesmaids, Molly. Parth had told Rishita that he was planning to "play golf" with his friends early in the morning and would not be available. Little did Rishita know that he was on his way to set up a beautiful rooftop, overlooking the New York City skyline, with roses and pictures of them over the years. As the girls got ready, Molly subtly suggested an outfit, hairstyle, and even shoes hand picked by Parth. Rishita walked into the perfect surprise proposal on October 24th, 2020.
We are so excited to celebrate with everyone this year. Our original hope was to have our marriage ceremony and celebration in 2021 but due to the global COVID pandemic, we decided to wait. With important members of our families coming from overseas, our priority was, first and foremost, everyone's safety. Now that almost all of our attendees are vaccinated and boosted, we can celebrate to the fullest extent in this new normal. Our hearts are so full from the support our parents have shown us in this choice to wait, and now with their blessings, we are ready to get married on June 11, 2022. It was worth the wait.
