It was mid-summer when the digital stars aligned on July 7, 2017. Amidst the sea of profiles on "Plenty of Fish", our paths crossed, turning a casual scroll or message into the start of our love story. It was a witty bio, handsome smile, and a picture of Dick Clark that sparked the first "hello". But that lucky date -July 7th-marked the moment we transitioned from strangers in a database to a real-world connection. Wading through the waters, Joseph and I connected over more than just a screen name. Our conversations quickly revealed a shared passion for life's simple pleasures and deep-rooted Michigan pastimes. With a connection forged in hockey and hooks; we quickly discovered our love for the Detroit Red Wings and fishing. We found common ground about our experiences with the highs and lows of rooting for the Wings over the years; watching them win multiple cups, players reaching incredible stats, to not making the playoffs, and Joseph admitting that he met Steve Yzerman when he was younger, scoring his autograph on a puck. This in turn made me very jealous as Steve Yzerman is my favorite player of all time, hoping to one day to meet him personally to get my jersey signed. Truthfully, I only started talking to him because I wanted the puck...for myself!! Wink Wink :) Beyond the rink, we shared an enthusiasm for fishing. Joseph was a skilled fisherman already, just waiting for a permanent fishing buddy. I grew up on my aunt's lake, honing my skills of fishing taught by grandpa, only to lose the love of fishing when he passed away. It wasn't until Joseph casted his line and hooked me, that my love of fishing began to awaken. Our undeniable love for being on the water, feeling the breeze and the sun, swapping fishing stories, and engaging in deep conversations while taking in the sunsets, is a core part of both of our lives. It was these shared interests, from the excitement of the game to the tranquility of the water, that turned that lucky date on "Plenty of Fish" into the start of our journey together. J+L
