Minden is located on the train that goes directly from Amsterdam (NL) to Berlin and has its own train station. All trains--with the exception of the ICE--do stop in Minden. The closest airport is Hannover (HAJ) and while there are no direct flights from the US to HAJ, you may want to check for connecting flights to Hannover from the first airport in Europe where you arrive. Guests arriving in Hannover can be picked up (a 45 minute car ride). IMPORTANT: most travelers from the US will check only for flights into Frankfurt (FRA). While that is definitely an option, Amsterdam (AMS) in Holland is actually closer and often offers far more and cheaper flights). Even Paris is an option for those who want to combine the trip to the Northern German boondocks with some worldclass experience. However the train ride from Paris is long and the French are on strike even more often than the Germans. For some of you, Heathrow (LHR) in England may be most desirable.
