Matt and I grew up in the same town, we never crossed paths and went to different High Schools. Despite having some of the same friend groups and living less than a mile away from eachother we hadn’t connected until College. Matt transfered colleges to Gwynedd Mercy to play baseball & shortly after move in day we had met and become friends. Matt would use any excuse to come see me in my dorm. He’d knock on my door asking for a pen, water, snack etc. He would always study in the room just down the hall from my room (little did he know I looked forward to every one of those visits). After fall semester we headed back home to Washington Township for winter break, and it turned out our family's homes were very close to each other. We met up for what we know now was our first date. It wasn’t until that June of 2013 that we made our relationship official. We have been through two years of long distance as I transferred colleges after that sophomore year, but nothing would compete with our love for one another. Even though I didn’t attend Gwynedd, I never missed a baseball game or the opening warm up songs (baby got a ball cap on). Almost a decade has passed since our first date. We added two fur children (Scarlett and Cody) and a home in a new town. We have upgraded our titles to Aunt & Uncle which has been one of our proudest moments. We can’t wait to see where our next journey will take us.
We had planned a beach day trip. I unknowingly had invited Matts brother and sister in-law. It was a cloudy morning and I almost cancelled the day trip thinking it wouldn’t be the best day — Sorry Matty. Thankfully we ended up still going, but a last minute change of street (by me) threw the plans again for another loop. Apparently I’m not the easiest to surprise LOL! When I walked down to the beach I immediately took my shirt off to get into my suit sat down to take in the salty air and ocean view. While unpacking, Matt pulled out a towel that said “Will you marry me?” and put it out in front of him on the sand and called me over. I was in complete shock! He had a photographer there to snap the most amazing and authentic pictures. What a perfect day and weekend of celebrations that followed.
We can’t wait to celebrate with our family and friends at The Windrift Hotel in Avalon, NJ. The breathtaking views of the beach and ocean and smell of the salty air will tie together a perfect day of celebrating!
