Things To Do

The Wedding Website of McKenna Caldwell and Christian Parker
Never been to this region of Northern California? Don't worry, there are many options for things to do in the area before or after the wedding. Since we will have guests staying all around the Sacramento and El Dorado Counties in the days surrounding the wedding, here are some of our favorite towns and attractions to visit.

Apple Hill | High Hill Ranch

2901 High Hill Road, Placerville, CA 95667

High Hill Ranch is just one of a dozen or so farms in the Placerville region that make up an annual fall event locals call "Apple Hill". These farms host little farmers/craft markets that are an autumn favorite. You'll find local breweries, artisan booths, apple picking, delicious baked goods, & gorgeous scenery as you drive from farm to farm. If staying an extra day in Folsom or Sacramento, we highly recommend a day trip out here to see what Apple Hill has to offer.

Folsom Historic District

200 Wool Street, Folsom, CA 95630

Historic Folsom is a beautiful area with wonderful dining and shopping options. If staying in the area, we highly recommend taking a walk down main street and maybe even visiting our small local zoo. There's a cute farmer's market every Saturday and a popular ice cream parlor called Snooks. For dining we love The Fat Rabbit, Scotts Seafood, Vino, Crawdads on the Lake, Riley's, Julian's, and Mario's Early Toast. For finer dining look to Sutter Street Steakhouse, which is a sister restaurant to our favorite steakhouse in Chico.

Old Auburn Historic District

101 Maple Street, Auburn, CA 95603

Auburn is an old mining town that many people will pass through on their way to the wedding. It has a historic district as well as some newer attractions. Auburn might be what you're looking for if you want a place to wander and maybe do a couple of hikes. It is also the closest large town to Foresthill if you want a typical hotel that is close to the venue.

Old Sacramento

Sacramento, CA

If you want to stay near the State Capital we have a few suggestions for things to do. If you love California history, Sacramento host several historical sites to explore. We recommend a walk through Old Sacramento for a fun shopping experience, the Crocker Art Museum for its beautiful galleries, and the Railroad Museum. You could also tour the capital, visit the rose gardens, or see some wildlife at the Sacramento Zoo.

Roseville

Roseville, CA

If you're staying in or near Roseville, here are a couple recommendations on how to pass your time. Top Golf is a high-tech driving range and is a popular local hang-out. (You can reserve a spot online.) If its super hot out, Sunsplash is the local water park with an attached arcade and mini-golf course that many locals and their kids spend the summer at.
