Parker and Yasmim first met in 2023. At the time, Parker was living in Logan while attending Utah State University, and Yasmim was living in Salt Lake City working full-time. We matched on the dating app Hinge in November. She messaged him first! Once we started talking, we couldn’t stop texting each other every day. Our conversations covered everything from life and dreams to one very important topic: Lizzie, Yasmim’s golden retriever. After a few weeks, Parker planned to drive to Salt Lake City for their first date—a Utah Jazz game. Despite a winter storm warning, he started the drive, but it didn’t take long for things to go wrong. A semi-truck accident in Sardine Canyon brought traffic to a standstill, leaving Parker stuck for nearly two hours as snow poured down. Eventually, he had to call Yasmim to reschedule. Nervous that she might never want to see him again, he was relieved when she responded with kindness, telling him to get somewhere warm and stay safe. Our first official date eventually happened on December 9, 2023. We spent the evening looking at Christmas lights around the Salt Lake Valley and drinking hot chocolate, talking for hours. Even though we lived an hour and a half apart, we were calling each other and texting constantly. Soon after, we made it to a Jazz game to make up for the first attempt. We officially became a couple on January 20, 2024, and visited Brazil together for the first time in March of that year. Parker proposed on January 19, 2025. We now live in Washington, Utah. Lizzie has adopted Parker as her dad, and the three of us could not be happier building a life together.
