Every Christmas, my persian cat Mr. Darcy loves to play with the decorations on the Christmas tree. In doing so, he often ends up re-decorating the tree with his own cat flair. More often than not, Mr. Darcy would topple the tree over and hide under the tree skirt. David and I had become quite accustomed to picking up our 5 foot tree and carefully placing the ornaments back on after Darcy had his fun. One December evening, I was relaxing watching tv and David came rushing in from the other room , “he did it again” . Exasperated , I got up to find the tree on its side with the ornaments strewn about. David and I began to clean up the ornaments and carefully place them back on the tree. David then called my attention to an ornanent that appeared to be cracked from falling off of the tree. I then turned my attention to Mr. Darcy who’s rearend was half in snd half out of the tree skirt. “That’s coming out of your paycheck Darcy! “ I laughed and continued to clean up. I then turned to see David with what I thought was a broken Christmas ornament opened in his hand displaying a beautiful ring! And the rest is history!
