Did You Know?

For a little bit of fun, we have some fun facts about the venues we have chosen for our special weekend!
Question

#1

Answer

St. Mary's Catholic Church, where Paola and Will will be getting married, is the second oldest catholic church in Memphis and was built in the 1860's by franciscan monks. Its basement was also used to house slaves along their route to freedom on the underground railroad.

Question

#2

Answer

The street where our venue, The Woodruff Fontaine House, is located used to be lined up and down with the most extravagant mansions in Memphis back in the late 1800's. The street was deemed "Millionaire's Row" , however, by the 1960's most of these houses had been deserted for years and the City of Memphis tore the majority of them down. The Woodruff Fontaine House is one of the few original houses still standing. It now acts as a museum showcasing what life was like in Victorian Memphis Mansions of a time gone by.

Question

#3

Answer

A little known fact about the Woodruff Fontaine House is that it has been recognized as one of the Haunted Mansions of Memphis and has attracted ghost hunters and super-natural enthusiasts of all ilk. In 2014, the house was actually featured on the Syfy channel's Ghost Hunters!
