The weather in Bogotá can be quite temperamental, it is usually around 20 degrees Celsius during the day and can get a bit nippy in the evening. We would highly recommend bringing a waterproof / cagoule as it rains frequently and sun cream for the English folk is a must because the sun is very powerful indeed.
You may have heard some bad press about Colombia but the country is considered safe. The capital (Bogotá) and the region we are getting married in (Boyacá) is safe but as always, have your wits about you (e.g. Pick pocketers etc).
The Colombian currency is Colombian Pesos. Most places accept card (Apple Pay, Monzo etc) but we recommend taking some cash out just in case. Colombia is generally considered a cheap country and you get good value for money due to the currency exchange!
The food is generally not spicy at all. The Colombian cuisine consists of a lot of meat and fish. There will be a vegetarian / vegan option for the wedding but please let us know of any dietary requirements in advance. The tap water is safe to drink. The alcoholic drinks are very similar to the UK. Colombia is known for its rum and its aguardiente.
UK nationals don't currently need a visa to enter the country. However, if you are travelling via another country on a connecting flight such as the USA, please ensure you have a visa / ESTA or else you won't be allowed to travel. Please make sure your passport has plenty of time (9 months) before expiry.
There is a Formal dress code for the day of the wedding (e.g. suits, dresses).
There is a direct flight from London Heathrow to Bogota (El Dorado International Airport) for approximately £900 per person (including luggage) for a return for February 2026 through a company called Avianca. The Northerners may wish to travel from Manchester with a connecting flight that will take longer but usually cost less.

Seeming as though many of you have travelled a long way to join us, we will not be expecting any presents as such due to the flight costs etc. However, if you would like to provide a gift then money will be fine as it might be difficult to bring presents over.
