It’s funny how the universe works sometimes. We grew up just three hours apart yet somehow met all the way across the world. We were both overseas when we stumbled into each other at the gym. This is where Joseph walked up to me, said I looked like his friend, nervously showed me a picture with a shaking hand… and then promptly ran away. After a few more casual gym conversations, we exchanged phone numbers but not without a little chaos. When Joseph put my number into his phone, he fat-fingered one digit. Days passed, and I couldn’t figure out why he never texted me, even though we kept talking at the gym. Meanwhile, he thought I had given him a fake number and was equally confused that I was still chatting with him in person. Eventually, I decided I had a bone to pick and asked him why he never texted me. That’s when we realized the mix-up. We got the number right the second time and the rest is history.
