Lauren's Side For our anniversary, we booked a professional couple's shoot. Earlier today, he told me we should get some doughnuts to use as a prop. During the shoot, the photographer handed me the box of doughnuts and told Bryan to get behind me and make some funny faces. He then said, "Turn around and check out what he's doing." Bryan was down on one knee and said, "I've loved every day I've spent with you, and I would love nothing more than to grow old and smelly and wrinkly together. Panda, will you marry me?" I dropped the box of doughnuts - THE ONLY TIME I'VE EVER DROPPED FOOD - and said yes. And the rest is history. Bryan's Side I wasn't sure when I was going to ask, but when we scheduled the photo shoot I knew opportunity had smiled upon me. I contacted the photographer so as to have a co-conspirator and came up with the doughnut gambit. Each shot I was wondering when he would give me the code word of "make a funny face behind her". When he finally did, I checked my pocket for the ring - was glad it was still there - and went down on one knee.
Lauren's Version Bryan and I met while I was between jobs. I took a position at Bryan's design firm and quit after two weeks because there were no windows and no music playing. I thought Bryan was cute and stalked him online only to discover a Facebook account with a single profile picture of a bushy haired dude with glasses. He looked like a nerd, and Thor had just hit theaters. I figured, "Nerds love comic books...that's my in." I was so surprised when he asked me to the movies first, bought the tickets, and then even offered to pick me up. He confirmed with me the day before and said we could grab a bite afterwards, which is why I purposely didn't. destroy and entire large popcorn when he offered to get my snacks. I thought things were going well when he held my hand, but was totally blindsided when he dropped me back off at my house, said, "We should do this again sometime" without so much as a kiss goodnight. And yet here we are, ten years later. Bryan's Version I told my mom the date went well! And I said MAYBE we could get something to eat!
