The entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park is located near the city of Estes Park, CO, and is located about 30 miles from the wedding site in Lyons, CO. If you have time before or after the wedding, we highly recommend checking out the park, there are spectacular mountain views and abundant wildlife, exceptional hiking, and camping if you are so inclined.
There are several home games for the Colorado Rockies in the days prior to our wedding. Coors Field, the home of the Rockies is located in downtown Denver. Abundant micro-breweries are near-by the field so check those out too. Chris may be organizing a group to go to one of the games a few days prior to wedding, contact him if you have interest in joining.
One of the great nearby locations for hiking if you are interested.
More great hiking and views of the flatirons in Boulder, CO.
One of Colorado's 14,000 foot peaks, you can hike or even drive this one all the way to the top. It is the highest by elevation paved auto-road in North America. BE CAREFUL, stay hydrated and bring warm clothes and pay attention to altitude sickness if you venture up this high. It can easily snow up there in August, but the views are worth the trek. Other hiking options for 14ers exist near-by, contact Chris for details, these are advanced day hikes.
Red Rocks is an outdoor amphitheater and has shows nearly every night in the summer. Check out their concert schedule if you are interested. They also have yoga on the rocks in the morning and hiking trails near-by with views of the red rocks.
