What brings two strangers from three states apart together? By chance, coincidence, fate? Nicholas and Amber have faith in knowing it was in God’s plan that they were placed in each other’s lives. Amber is from Slidell, Louisiana, a small city right across the Lake Pontchartrain from New Orleans. Amber began working at Italian Pie as a hostess the beginning of her senior year at Slidell High School. It was a sunday night that she was called in to work, on February 20, 2011. She was minutes from leaving when in walked a tall, dark, and handsome young man. His striking eyes caught hers. Amber was never a believer of love at first sight until this very moment. She sat their party of six and still to this day could tell you what table and chair he sat at. Moments later, Nicholas’ waitress walked over to Amber and said “that guy over there thinks your really pretty and asked me to give you this.” It was a small torn piece of receipt paper with his number on it. Amber was a little taken back and said “that’s sweet but he can reach out to me if he’s interested.” Amber wrote down her number and the waitress brought it back to him. Amber then left with a smile as she passed by his table. Moments later she received a text message from a 561 phone number. As they got to know each other, Amber found out Nicholas was from Jupiter, Florida and had been in living in Slidell for a year while working in New Orleans. Only one week later, on February 27, Nicholas asked Amber to be his girlfriend. They became inseparable, spending every chance they could together outside of work and school. They think back and laugh at how long it would take them to say goodnight before Amber had to rush home for her eleven o’clock curfew. Two young kids fell madly in love and with that love they had their son, Nicholas Palmer II, on February 2, 2012. He has been the greatest love and blessing they will ever know other than the love that they share together. And the rest, as they say, is history.
