How We Met

January 2013

"It was a cold night and I got a text from Blake who was home from college for winter break. He was having people over his house. Blake lives 5 min away, so I threw some jeans on and headed over like any other time. He mentioned his friend Eddie was over, who I've surprisingly never met." — Alyse "At first glance I knew she was different. She had an aura about her that radiated like the sun and a laugh and smile that could brighten any room. A gentle look in her eyes when she would listen to me speak even though I'm sure what I was saying was nonsense. A stance that showed confidence, that she didn't need to impress anyone. Little did I know that after all this time she found a place deep in my heart that grows every single day all from that first glance." — Eddie

The Second Time We Met

April 20, 2013

"It wasn't until April that we saw each other again. Blake was home again from school, and he wanted to go to Hooks, a fun little bar in Seaside. He was going to scoop me up and we'd go. He texted me back a few minutes later and asked if it was okay that his friend Eddie come too. And I said, of course, the more the merrier! I was excited to get to see Eddie again. Blake's sister, Tori, actually dropped us all off at Hooks. We got some beers and were playing the games they have at Hooks. We had a great time and Eddie and I got a chance to talk and get to know each other more. I remember being snuggled up in the car with Eddie on the way home. He messaged me on Facebook the next day and got my number. We made plans to get together again. I still have the screenshot of the Facebook message saved. At that moment I already knew I was going to marry this man. He was unlike anyone I've ever met." — Alyse

Our Proposal

December 3, 2017

It was the day after Mom's Surprise 60th Disco Birthday Party. We had plans for awhile to go to a tree farm to cut down a Christmas tree. We've never done that before so we thought it would be fun to bring Kylo and take some family pics! After many attempts to get me moving that morning, I was busy cleaning up from the party and watching episodes of the Sopranos, Eddie finally asked if I'd want to leave by 1pm and head to the tree farm in case it would start raining. We headed to the the Anne-Ellen Christmas Tree Farm in Manalapan, NJ. I sat in the back of the car with Kylo since Eddie was driving. We were so excited to pick out our Christmas tree! We both LOVE Christmas. On our way we some how jokingly brought up getting married. Out loud and intentional I said to Kylo "Don't worry Kylo, one day Daddy will make an honest woman out of Mommy and we'll all have the same last name. But for now your name is still 'Kylo Ren DeSimone-Palfini'. We arrived at the farm and parked — it was PACKED. We got out and walked Kylo passed some farm animals. Eddie was kind of quiet. We walked toward the Christmas trees, but I was insisting that we stop in the shop to get a saw. Everyone else was walking with the saw to cut the trees down. Eddie wanted to "pick it out first" and then we can grab a saw. I obliged after much resistance.. I didn't want to find the tree and then walk all the way back.

She said "Yes"

We were walking and walking, and Eddie seemed to be on a mission. I just thought he was really into finding this tree so I just followed his lead.. lol. We soon turned left down a row of tall and full trees. He slows up and grabs my hand and starts talking about how much he loves me. He stopped and moved in front of me with both of my hands in his. As he began to drop down on one knee I quickly realized what was happening and instantly started hysterically-ugly crying. I blacked out, I couldn't even tell you what he said to me. I know it was beautiful later on because I had to have him tell me again what he said. I said 'Yes' of course. As everything was coming back to reality, I realized that he had a photographer hiding in the trees capturing the entire moment. People around us were clapping and congratulating us. It was the most beautiful and surreal moment of my life. It couldn't have been more perfect. It was just the two of us (and Kylo) and it was very 'us'. " — Alyse
