We're getting married!

While Katie experienced a traditional dating life before me, mine was more like a bad reality TV show. One night, I'd be locked in a restaurant bathroom secretly phoning a friend to save me and the next, my date disappeared after a second outing with me. (No, I mean she really was a missing persons case in Minneapolis!) Then, there was the time I agreed to a blind date set up by my grandpa. I pulled up to her house and this 6'-4" leggy blonde walked out to greet me. Normally, that'd be a dream, but I'm 5'-6" in socks (and shoes)! So, as I drove to Fargo to meet Katie for the first time, my expectations weren't very high. It had nothing to do with her and everything to do with me! When she opened her door and our eyes met, I LITERALLY lost my breath! Here was this red-romper-wearing little blonde whose eyes sparkled brighter than that tunnel to Heaven! She had a huge smile, carried herself with spunky confidence and her apartment was spotless. (The neat freak in me rejoiced!) The only thing I remember saying was: "Holy cow...you're beautiful!" After seeing me, Katie still agreed to our planned dinner in downtown Fargo. We parked the car and during our walk, some locals in a jet black Dodge Ram revved their engine and whistled at the confident walker in red. Katie turned toward the truck (I swear she winked at them) then grabbed my hand and we powered to the front door. I couldn't believe it? When given the chance to jump in with those tough guys, she chose me! This, after I picked her up in the 2005 Buick Rainier I bought from my mom! Throughout dinner and for the rest of the night I couldn't -- I wouldn't -- break eye contact. More than hot in that romper, this girl was smart, well-spoken, had great manners and was determined. Later, when she hit me with her devotion to Catholicism I BEGGED my brain not to propose on the spot! She was it. I didn't care what else I learned. I knew I finally met my plus one and I couldn't wait to tell the world!
