How my humans met

From the mind of Jeff

Hi, I’m Jeff! I’m a 5 year old corgi from Korea, and this is the story of how my humans met. I came to America in November 2022 to live with my foster mom—who I quickly convinced to be my forever mom—and naturally, I assumed it would just be the two of us forever—me, her, and all the attention I very much deserved. But in January 2023… that’s when my life changed. It started with Mom’s phone buzzing with notifications from an app called Hinge. I didn’t think much of it until the day she did something highly suspicious: she left me at home (still not over it, by the way) to go meet a stranger for boba. As it turns out, the person on the other end of those pings was the guy I’d eventually call Dad. They met at Teaspoon, and from what I’ve gathered, things went well—so well, in fact, that boba somehow turned into dinner. Mom had said she wasn’t hungry (classic), so Dad ordered himself a sandwich. Now here’s where it gets interesting. Even though Mom insisted she wasn’t hungry, her eyes never left Dad’s sandwich. Eventually, he offered her a bite. She said yes. Then yes again. And then one more. Until—poof—half the sandwich was gone. The next day, Mom must have realized she’d committed a minor first-date sandwich crime. To make amends, she presented Dad with a sandwich of her own—a banh mi to be exact. It was a delicious peace offering, and this time, she made sure Dad got his fair share. And just like that, somewhere between boba, a disappearing sandwich, and a well-timed peace offering, my two humans began their story. As for me, I gained a dad—and more importantly, I doubled my chances of getting snacks. In the end, I’d say it all worked out exactly as it should.
