If you are leaving from Chicago, you will fly out of O'Hare Airport into Athens (ATH), Greece. You will then need to fly from Athens into the Santorini Airport (JTR). The Santorini airport is located in the Santorini town: Fira (also known as Thira).
We will update this as soon as flights for July 2027 are available! Currently for July 2026, non-stop flights out of O'Hare to Athens are daily with United and American Airlines between 4-5 PM. This will be an overnight flight and you will arrive between 11:00 AM-12:00 PM. The flight from Athens to Santorini is about 50-60 minutes.
There are a variety of ways to get from the Santorini airport to your hotel. There is a public bus system that gets you around the island but this isn't the most efficient method to get from the airport to Oia if you are staying in that town. This would be the cheapest option (pay in cash only) but also take a little over an hour. Most hotels offer transportation for an extra charge, you would need to coordinate with your hotel prior to your stay. Another option: you can book private transportation! There are many options available for affordable prices. The driver will meet you at the airport. They will then drive you from the airport straight to your hotel! This would be about a 20-25 minute drive.
