Anatomy Lab

For those who don't yet know him, Harrison Luttrell has an exceptionally gifted mind with great attention to detail. He is hard working, overachieving, and fascinated by medicine. I have these qualities to thank for snagging myself a husband. Harrison, as a second year medical student in 2015, took a job as teaching assistant in the anatomy lab for incoming MUSC PA students. His skill with the scalpel was nothing short of legendary, and his kindness made him a favorite target for questions. Enter Paige & friends: giggly, anxious, and generally uncomfortable around dead bodies. The summer was hot, smelly (formaldehyde), and grueling -- but we both consider it the best of our lives. It wasn't until summer ended and his teaching duties completed that we grew closer as friends. On a warm, rainy walk back to my downtown Charleston house, Harrison successfully secured his first (and last) "first date". And the rest, as they say, is history.

Study, Rest, Repeat

Our first two years together were some of the most challenging we have endured, both as individuals and as a couple. We learned to navigate the waters of a relationship, while working diligently in school to better ourselves in our chosen fields. It was a season of great change and personal growth. There were ups, downs, movie nights, and take out dinners, mixed in with lunch dates at MUSC picnic tables and many, many, stressed-out talk-downs. We learned how to support each other in both joy and disappointment. We spent time with our beloved friends, explored the city of Charleston, and met each others parents. We are so thankful for those two years of love. But we look forward to NEVER being students again!

Proposal: Part 1

When it came down to the proposal, there was really only one place to do it: a bench on the Battery where we sat after our first date and many occasions after that. The tricky part was how to get Paige there. I decided to do it on Match Day to throw her off the scent. So the day started out great, a trip to brunch with both of our families followed by an awesome time at Match Day where I found out that I’d be headed to Indianapolis for four years of Med/Peds residency! Then the real stress hit... Despite Paige’s concern about the families being bored while we went to dinner, I was able to convince her to go on a couples date to Five Church to celebrate. The food was amazing although I was probably acting slightly awkward given the ring was in my left pants pocket. After dinner came the most difficult part, for those of you who know Paige well, her desire to meander through downtown Charleston is one of her most consistent traits. So when she wanted to meander in the opposite direction of the Battery, I had to guide the meandering, which is something I had never had to do before. Luckily, she listened and we headed towards the water where my brother and his then-fiancée were patiently waiting...

Proposal: Part 2

Little did I know that the walk was a lot further than I had initially thought, but we eventually made it after a beautiful stroll down some of our favorite streets and alleys and red brick roads. At the bench, we were presented with another obstacle. There was a man suspiciously walking just out of our earshot since we entered the park. This of course threw Paige off well, which was good because I was pretty nervous at this point. After a minute or two at the bench watching the light fade, I got down on one knee and popped the question. And was immediately hit with the response of “No! No! Shut it!” And a slam of the ring box by Paige’s hand. So that threw me off a bit, but luckily this was followed by a hug and a “Yes!” Then my brother and his fiancée popped out to surprise her and congratulate us! After some pictures and Paige requesting that I get down on one knee and ask again because of her initial response, we headed back to the condo where family and friends were waiting to help us celebrate!

From This Moment, On

So here we are! Thrust into the real world of "adulting" and practicing medicine, we find ourselves closer than ever. We are honored to share our wedding day, taking place at Harrison's aunt & uncle's lake house, with our closest family members and life-long friends. We can't wait to enter 2019 as Dr. and Mrs. Luttrell, start building a life together in Indianapolis, and hopefully bring a puppy into the world. Thanks for reading, and most of all, thank you for all the love and support you've given us over the years!
