FAQs

Question

What is the suggested dress code?

Answer

Semi-formal

Question

Do I go directly to the reception venue after the wedding ceremony?

Answer

No, we have a small break between the ceremony and reception. Our ceremony starts at 2PM and we expect it to take approximately an hour. Cocktail hour starts at The Rose at 4:30PM. Feel free to use this time to explore Golden or go back to your lodgings to freshen up or take a break or whatever else you would like.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

There is a large parking lot at St. Joseph's church that you can park in. For the reception, there are multiple parking garages and lots within a few blocks. On the weekends, parking is free. We do anticipate that Golden will be fairly busy due to it being tourist season, but there should be plenty of parking. There are two (2) public parking garages conveniently located within one (1) block of The Rose between Jackson St. and Prospector’s Alley and between 11th and 13th Streets. Use the physical address information below for GPS navigation. Public Garage 1 (North) 702 12th St. Golden, CO 80401 Public Garage 2 (South) 1250 Jackson St. Golden, CO 80401

Question

What do I expect at the wedding ceremony?

Answer

The wedding takes place in a Roman Catholic church and will include a full mass. We understand that many people may not have been to Catholic weddings before and are happy you will join us. The priest should help guide you when to sit or stand throughout but do what you feel comfortable with. Sam says it's ok to be lost or a little confused.

Question

Does this count as a Sunday mass?

Answer

Yes! The readings are the readings for the 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time and is a full mass including communion so it fulfills the weekly obligation.

Question

What is the weather like and is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Both the wedding and the reception are indoors and the buildings have air conditioning but August can be a hot month in Colorado! Highs into the 90s are common, but it is a dry heat so we swear it isn't that bad. But keeping hydrated is important in the warm dry weather especially at elevation. The sun is also more intense as the higher elevation so we recommend sunscreen if you are spending prolonged periods outside. Rain in the evenings is not uncommon, but it usually passes relatively quickly and the reception is inside.
