While we encourage you to explore, here are some things right by us! Breakfast? Try The Commoner (in the hotel!) from 7-10:30am or head to Waffles Incaffeinated or The Speckled Egg. Dunkin' Donuts and Bruegger's Bagels are just around the corner for a quick fix too--you can enjoy those in Mellon Square or Mellon Green for a better experience! Lunch? We recommend one of the other spots listed here!
Right in downtown Pittsburgh! City goers, head to Market Square and enjoy a variety of restaurants, shops and plenty of people watching! If you're there on Thursday you can try to catch the Farmer's Market! Lunch? Try Primanti's, a Pittsburgh cult classic (although Paige doesn't really see why) or City Works! Just a short walk away you'll find Gaucho and Christos Mediterranean (try the famous cake, which Christos made for Jackie O as her personal chef!), some of our favorites! Fun Fact: Mike works in PPG Place, the castle looking building in the Pittsburgh skyline!
Home to most of the Pittsburgh theaters and also the first home of the bride and groom! While there is not a ton of shopping here, you can always find somewhere to eat! Our favorites? The Warren (sushi), Proper (brick oven pizza), Emporio (meatballs) and countless others! Walk across the bridge to get a view of the river or to head into the North Shore!
Park your car and hop onto Pittsburgh's Riverfront Trail! Get one of the greatest views of the city and an up close look at the stadiums that make us "yinzers" proud! When we lived in town, we would walk our dog, Zola, here almost daily! (Head's up, this is not the area for your standard breakfast or for a coffee lover!) Hungry? After your walk, stop into one of the many restaurants along the trail for lunch -- Southern Tier (brewery), The Foundry, Burgatory, Bar Louie, Shorty's Pins & Pints (duck pin bowling!), to name a few. Make a day of it and stop into the Andy Warhol museum on 7th, or, visit the Children's Museum or Museum Lab (teens) for the family, located nearby!
This is NOT just for kids, although they'll love it most! Explore an actual submarine, head into an iMax showing, or cross the street to try out the Sports complex! Note, the Science Center does tend to get pretty crowded so if crowds aren't your thing, steer clear.
A Pittsburgh staple! Exploring? Check out Macaroni Co. to shop stinky cheeses and the like, Roxanne's to smell the dried floral arrangements, Grandpa Joe's Candy for a sweet treat the kids will love or head to the Terminal to meander various shops and people watch! Hungry? Check out Café Mona, Pamela's or Kelly O's for breakfast. For lunch, head to Penn Ave Fish Co! Looking for pizza? Our favorites are Iron Born (Detroit style) and Pizzeria Davide (NY style)!
