Travel Note
Money: Check with your bank a week or so before leaving to purchase some pesos. You will be able to get the best exchange rate and have pesos available upon arrival. Be sure to inform your bank and any credit card companies of your travel plans. Cell Phone: Check with your carrier before you travel to Mexico. Most carriers have affordable short-term contracts that allow cell and data coverage while you’re in Mexico. There have been many visitors to Mexico that incurred data charges in the hundreds of dollars because of not signing up for a plan. Weather: The Climate in PV during February can be summarized as warm, humid and dry. Daytime maximum temperatures average 85 degrees and at night, 57 degrees. A light sweater or wrap is nice if you venture out at night as Air Conditioning can be cool.
Shuttle
February 22, 2020 5:00 am - 10:30 pm
Approved Taxi Service is readily available at the doors. The Fees are preset. Zone 1 is the location of the Resort. It is best to pay in pesos but they do take credit cards. The Resort is approximately 10-15 minutes from the airport. UBER: UBER is available throughout Puerto Vallarta except from the airport. The app you use in the States works in PV. BUSES: The Bus service is excellent in PV. You will be able to catch a bus a couple of blocks from the Resort if you decide to explore. The cost is 10 pesos.
Flight
On Airplane: You will need to fill out two forms. Be sure you have a black or blue pen available along with your Passports. Immigration Form: Each person needs to fill out a form. Be sure to fill out both sections. Safeguard the bottom portion because you will need it to leave the country. You’ll need the address of the resort: Plaza Pelicanos Grand Beach Resort Ave Jose Clemente, Orozco 131, PV, Jalisco (State) Customs Form: One per family- the head of household information is entered. This form is given to the Customs agent once you pick up your luggage and get the privilege of pushing the RED vs GREEN light! Once you clear Customs, you will almost be out of the airport.
Travel Note
Turn your cellphone back on. It’s important that you cycle your cellphone off then back on for it to find the Mexican cell service. It sometimes takes several minutes. Be sure to NOT USE your cellphone while in Immigration and Customs. You’ll enter Immigration first. They’ll need your Passport and the Immigration form. They will stamp your Passport and separate the form. They will give you the bottom of the form- keep it together with your Passport. You will be finished with both the Passport and Immigration form. You will then go and retrieve your luggage and get into a line for Customs. They will need the other form that you filled out on the plane. Hopefully this process will go quickly and you will be allowed to leave the secured area. As you proceed, you will enter a hallway filled with Timeshare salesmen…. Walk – DON’T STOP! They can be very persistent but just walk past them to the doors of the airport.
