It all started when Kaleb and I both swiped right. Yes, we met online - crazy I know! As much as you want it to happen some other way, that just wasn't OUR story...this is! Kaleb and I had our first date at the Phoenix, which is why we decided to have our wedding there. The Phoenix is more than just a wedding venue to us; it's where our story began. I vividly remember our first date, I had texted my friend, Joanna, and told her that if I don't text within a certain period of time that she needed to come check on me or call 911. She lived in Baldwin at the time so she would've got to me the quickest. But little did I know that I was going to meet my big 'ol teddy bear that night. Kaleb was nervous, I could tell. His voice was a little shaky at first, but once he ordered a drink he became more relaxed! I remember him saying, "well, I think this is going really well," and I had agreed. Later as we were leaving, he had asked me in the parking lot if we could start dating. He will tell you till this day my response, "It's not a yes, it's not a no, but a maybe" which was followed by an awkward hug. And after that, the rest was history!
Kaleb and I were looking for something fun to do one night, as a date night. We both hadn't been to Taylors Falls on the boat cruise so we decided that was what we were going to do. Kaleb isn't very good at keeping secrets but he tried to play cool that night. On the way to Taylor's Falls he tells me "whatever you think is going to happen tonight, isn't going to happen"..I was like "okay...." We got parked and headed to the little concession stand to have pizza and a few drinks before we got on the boat. We were walking down to get on the boat and Kaleb tells me he will meet me down there. In the meantime, he was gathering a few people to capture the moment. (pictured below) I was confused as to what was going on, but it didn't surprise me because Kaleb talks to random people all the time!!! We got on the boat and start cruising down the river and Kaleb asked me if I wanted to go stand toward the front of the boat to see better. So, we got up and stood at the edge of the boat and next thing I know he started digging in his pocket and nervously said "So, Paige will you marry me?" and of course since you're here, I said YES!!!! We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in February!
