Stroll down the red-brick sidewalk on this beautiful tree-lined mile-long street filled with independent boutiques and unique restaurants. On Saturday morning, a farmers market since 1753 showcases local fruits & vegetables, plus meats, flowers & baked goods (pro tip- we love the Coulter’s farm chocolate milk and any of their cheese). We love grabbing coffee at Misha’s and walking around Old Town on Saturday morning. There are also plenty of boutiques and antique stores along King Street for those who want to shop til they drop.
We love strolling along Old Town’s waterfront with Dunder. The trail along Founders park is a great walk. Head north on the trail to Washington Sailing Marina or south will take you down to Jones Point (you’ll see the old boundary stone that was used when Alexandria was once a part of Washington, DC until 1846)
Follow a colonial costumed guide by lantern light through the charming streets of Alexandria’s historic district, Old Town. On this entertaining tour you’ll hear ghost stories, legends and folklore. Our wedding is Halloween weekend and this will surely get you into the spooky spirit!!
We are putting together a map with historic landmarks and an Old Town walking guide for our guests. Check your welcome bag when you arrive. Our wedding ceremony will be at one of the famous Alexandrian historic landmarks, Christ Church - where George Washington used to attend himself.
You’ll find Rich Foley at Daniel O’Connells any Saturday morning there’s a rugby game to watch. You’ll find Davey Marrin at Murphy’s anytime he’s craving mozzarella sticks and a Guinness. Either way, if you like enjoying a beer at an Irish pub you will enjoy O’Connell’s or Murphy’s pub.
Great wine and cheese, paired by a somm.
