Brandon and I had met through our company we were both working for at the time. I started working there in fall of 2019 and Brandon had already been with the company for about 3 years. In the beginning, he sat in the cubicle right across from me. Right away I loved getting to talk to him throughout the work day and getting him to laugh was my favorite hobby because his smile was contagious. Over the next couple of months I realized that working a 9-5 five days a week was still not enough time with Brandon (crazy right?), because I was never tired of being around him. We initially starting hanging out outside of work in group settings, and I definitely was guilty of giving subtle hints that I had a crush on him. Eventually, Brandon picked up on those hints (I think) and asked me to join him for drinks. Our first official date was at Jackalope and the rest is history. I never thought I would find my future husband sitting just one cubicle down from me but I am so happy I did.
Back in July 2023 it was the week before my birthday (July 18th), Brandon and I had plans to visit Cheekwood for an early birthday celebration. Little did I know that he was planning on proposing while we were there. But life is unpredictable and the day before our Cheekwood visit I got sick with a bug. Since we had to cancel our Cheekwood plans, Brandon came up with the idea for us to go to dinner that weekend to a "top secret" restaurant to celebrate my Birthday instead. The day we planned to go to dinner was on a Saturday and I went out to run errands for a few hours before because Brandon needed to set up my "Birthday Gift" on the back patio (I was convinced he bought me Patio furniture). When I got home I got ready for dinner and Brandon wanted to show me my Birthday gift before dinner. He guided me toward our back patio (my eyes were closed) and when I opened them I saw this beautiful set up in our backyard by the creek (I had told Brandon how much I love that creek and being around it). He took me over to the spot he had set up where there was a bottle of wine waiting for us. We were sitting there and it begins to rain, simultaneously Brandon gets down on one knee and proposes. I truly felt like I was in a movie with the love of my life proposing to me as we are getting soaked from the rain. Even though the proposal didn't happen at Cheekwood like Brandon planned, I don't think it could have been anymore perfect (Ironically Brandon caught that same bug I had that night).
