Our first date was at a bowling alley, but we first connected over our mutual love of plants. We started dating on August 6, 2021.

The proposal:

Akira proposed to Paige during their trip to Japan in March 2024. They were on a day trip from Hiroshima to Miyajima where they went on a hike. During the descent through the forest of Miyajima, amongst the roaming deer and the waterfalls, Akira pulled Paige to the side and proposed with a wooden ring that he had made himself.

Our first home together:

In December of 2022, we started touring houses together with the dream of buying one to live in and make it look like our dream home. The very first house we toured had a lot of wood paneling and would need some work, but it had a bigger yard and a charm to it that we both liked. We toured 4 or 5 other homes, but none of them felt like the first one, so we went for it. In January of 2023, we moved in and started our journey of fixing it up. We have made a lot of changes and there are more to come in the future, but we love having our own place to continue doing house projects, gardening, and spending time together.

Our growing family:

On June 24th, 2023, Paige and Akira brought home a little kitty. He was found outside by Paige's Grandma Jackie, all alone. Grandma Jackie called him "pickles" and the name stuck ever since. He is lovingly referred to as Mr. Pickles now. The latest addition arrived on December 26th, 2024 in the form of a little gray cat with white paws and light brown eyes. He was another Grandma Jackie rescue cat and is called Sesame.
