Stillwater is built on steep hills. Climb the 5 sets of historic stairs built as early as 1871 for great exercise and views from the top! Wind your way through downtown to find them all (about 3 mile/1 hour walk).

Teddy Bear Park

An award-winning urban seasonal park is a paradise for young kids. Kids climb on giant Teddy Bears, a giant train, and a crazy tree house with slides. Parking available across the street. FREE and open to the public 8am-8pm mid-April through mid-October.

St. Croix Boom Site State Wayside

Stillwater, MN 55082

Start at the St. Croix Boom Site, a Minnesota State Wayside. The wayside is located just north of Stillwater on Minnesota Hwy. 95. From the parking lot at the wayside, take the steps down to the river bank. From the base of the stairs, head south (turn to your right) and follow the trail along the base of the bluff for a short distance until you reach a small beach. Be careful when the river is high, though, as the trail - as well as the cave - may be under water. In the limestone at the back of the beach, you’ll find a small cave. Although small, the cave is deep. From the cave, turn back the way you came, past the stairs, for about half a mile. The narrow trail will skirt the bluff. When you reach a small creek, follow the creek upstream a short distance. You will find a gorgeous little waterfall tumbling over the rock-lined river bank.
