Jason claims he doesn’t remember sitting next to me when I started at HubSpot, but you tell me what you believe ;) Soon after, we became close friends and stayed that way for three years. In 2018, I was living in Ireland when Jason was sent to work in Dublin for two months over the summer. We were so happy to see each other when he arrived--I remember giving him an extra little hug--and for the next two months, we were pretty much inseparable. Call it fate (or call it a romantic canal tour in Amsterdam; thank you, Chelsea) but we started to realize that we were enjoying being together a little more than two friends might.

Jason is probably the most spontaneously creative person I know when it comes to making a moment fun, meaningful, or romantic. Mid-COVID, we were quarantining at my parents’ house. It was such a strange time, and yet Jason still found a way to surprise me with the sweetest proposal. He conspired with my parents, who distracted me while he demonstrated his art skills on their driveway with scenes and symbols of our relationship. As I found out later, he’d also been putting in late nights to write notes to accompany each drawing. If you’ve seen the video, you know how emotional I was. I am so happy to be marrying my best friend. And when asked if he wanted to add anything to these stories, his response was “No, I think you hit the nail on the head.” So good news: we’re on the same page.
