the future mr. & Mrs. Maier

In the fall of 2016, Sarah was gearing up for her junior year at UW-Whitewater while Kyle was moving to a brand new city after transferring from MATC. As luck would have it, Kyle found two guys looking to sublet their friend's room in their apartment who just so happened to be friends of Sarah's. Right next door lived Sarah and her three roommates, just like an episode of Friends. Sarah & Kyle met the first night everyone moved in at a party in Sarah's apartment. After a few months of hanging out (and bonding over The Office, Sarah's lack of Fantasy Football knowledge, and music that they each claimed they discovered first), they finally got it together and started dating in December 2016. The rest is history!

In Spring of 2021, Kyle woke up one morning and told Sarah that he wanted to plan their first solo vacation together once and for all. He had it all planned out - Gatlinburg, Tennessee, mid-May, road-trip. What could go wrong? Little did Sarah know, Kyle planned to propose on this trip whenever the right moment struck. On their 2nd day, Kyle & Sarah decided to hike up to a waterfall in the Smokey Mountains. Unfortunately that spot was packed full of people, so Kyle found a trail off the beaten path and they pushed on...for 4.5 total miles completely uphill, running into a snake in the trail along the way. When they finally got to the top, Sarah was too busy looking at the view to notice Kyle got down on one knee behind her. One question later, the two were engaged!
