It's Our Love Story, Baby, Just Say Yes

It all started with a swipe right—Matt’s best decision to date (and arguably Yasse’s too). Of course, we have to give credit where credit is due to Alex and Jenny Prewitt, the true masterminds behind Yasse’s Hinge profile. In May 2022, Matt asked Yasse out on their first date at Parlor Pizza Bar. It happened to fall on one of the hottest days of the year, and when Yasse arrived, Matt was already there… noticeably sweating. Naturally, she assumed it was just first-date nerves. In reality, Matt had decided it was a great idea to go for a run in 90-degree heat about an hour before. Bold strategy. Despite the heat, the two quickly bonded over their love of traveling, the University of Illinois (most importantly—KAMS), and their love of country music. While their date was going great, Yasse couldn’t help but wonder why Matt hadn’t ordered any food. As it turns out, he was trying to be “healthy”… on a first date… at a pizza bar. Questionable timing, but we’ve all grown since then. Thankfully, Yasse and Matt decided to see each other again. On their fourth date, they discovered they share the exact same birthday—two Scorpios… what could possibly go wrong? Over the last 4 years, their life together has been filled with so much adventure. They’ve traveled to 9 countries and 12 cities across the U.S., with many special trips to Marco Island to visit Abuelita (Yasse’s Grandma) and the Grisko family. They’ve been to countless concerts, spent lots of time at the driving range, taken many long walks along the lakefront, and made East Bank Club their second home. They’ve also eaten their way through Chicago’s restaurant scene and played many competitive games of Kings in the Corner—where Yasse is currently in the lead (as she often reminds Matt). Fast forward to Summer 2025, Yasse’s family suggested it was time for updated family pictures at Lincoln Park in downtown Chicago. On August 2nd, Yasse and Matt arrived at the park and were the first ones to get there. Matt suggested they walk over to the South Pond bridge… and that’s where he got down on one knee. After the proposal, Yasse thought family photos were still happening—but to her surprise, it was all a plan, and their family and friends were waiting nearby to celebrate with them. We feel so lucky for all the memories that brought us here—and even more excited for what’s ahead. We can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with all of you in a place we love so much!
