Evan and I met through his brother, Derek, dating my best friend, Mikayla (now happily married). We never explored a romantic connection - it actually was never even a thought from either of us. Evan was just Derek's brother, and Hannah was just Mikayla's best friend. I was invited to a pond party at Mikayla's neighbor's house and decided to go last-minute. Evan was also invited and showed up a bit later than me. When he got there I remember seeing him walk up to a group of people, and I was taken by surprise at his change in physical appearance. I hardly even recognized him. I went straight up to him and said, "Evan, you look different... are you okay?" in a worrisome manner. He seemed pretty thrown off by my question then laughed and replied, "I mean yeah I've just been working out a lot." Needless to say, I was really happy to hear that! Not much else happened that night, but that was the moment a spark of interest flooded our heads. Fast forward about two weeks to late May of 2020. My best friend (Mikayla) got engaged to Evans's brother (Derek). They were all up at camp that I was planning on going to the next morning, and I couldn't wait to get up there to celebrate with them. Once I got there, guess who was also there, Evan. Emotions were flowing for everyone. So much joy that his brother and my best friend were newly engaged. There was so much to celebrate. A few drinks in, I could sense Evan's flirtiness start to kick in. It was that day and night that our connection started to develop. We were side by side the entire time, laughing, playful flirting, and endless smiles. He messaged me on Instagram the next day saying that he enjoyed spending time with me, and asked if we could go on a date in the future. To which I denied him. For some reason, it just didn't feel like the right time for me to start a new relationship. So I tried to deny/postpone my feelings for Evan a bit longer. Fast forward another couple of weeks to mid-June 2020. We were at a friend's backyard wedding reception. There were a few people who stood up to give small speeches about the new happy couple and how everyone there had some special meaning to them. At that moment, I really started wondering how every time I tried to ignore my feelings for Evan, they would come back so easily and effortlessly. A song then came on that resonated with us both, and our situation on developing feelings. Everyone started slow dancing, and Evan decided to ask me to dance with him, to which I said of course. We then drove home from the wedding (myself, Evan, Derek, and Mikayla) back to Evan's house. I went back to Mikayla's to get my car, and I was supposed to go home. Instead, I decided to drive back to Evan's to continue our conversation and hang out longer. Ever since that night, we have been inseparable in our undeniable connection. <3
