Question

What is a Handfasting ceremony?

Answer

A handfasting ceremony is a wedding tradition that involves a couple’s hands being placed together and bound with ribbon or cord. It is an ancient ritual that symbolizes their joining through marriage. It is not a legal marriage, but a unity ceremony ritual that many couples choose to add to their vows. It is a traditionally Celtic ceremony. https://www.brides.com/story/handfasting-wedding-ceremony-101

Question

Are you actually married?

Answer

We are! We were legally wed on November 7th, in a very small and last-minute ceremony at our local courthouse. We still wanted to invite our family and friends to a wedding, so we decided to hold a non-traditional celebration.

Question

What colors should I avoid?

Answer

The happy couple and marital party will be wearing orange, pink, and black. Please avoid these!

Question

What is "black-tie optional?" How fancy should I dress?

Answer

The groom and bridesgroom will be wearing a suit and fancy dress. The marital party will also be wearing suits and formal dresses--please wear what is comfortable for you, but remember this is a wedding!
