Our story begins in a bar called The Brewery, on the Caribbean island of Grenada in early July 2016. Elissa was studying for her medical degree at St. George's University and Mike was there on his 6 week medical elective from Queen's University Belfast. Elissa deemed it quite impressive that someone could drink a full, large glass of awful red wine in one gulp, and our conversation started soon after. Oceans, time zones and immigration officers didn't stand in our way from journeying back and forth to visit one another and despite several lockdowns and travel restrictions, we were able to spend a year living together in Brooklyn. It was while on holiday in Mexico this past year that we decided to ditch the oceans, time zones and immigration officers permanently and got engaged.
