Corbin’s Version: “Okay, I’m gonna share my side of the story of how Owen and Sophia met — and how it’s all thanks to me. I’m kidding, Reagan gets credit too. So, back around grade 9 or 10, me, Reagan, and Sophia went to Trestle Creek — where her family has a trailer and there’s that pool with the waterslide. The three of us went once and got really bad swimmer’s itch. I swore I’d never go back... never wanted to... but it was fun. Earlier on that trip, I remember talking about my cousin Owen. I told Sophia, “You guys would be perfect together,” and she was like, “Okay, sure.” I said, “No, you don’t understand — this would be so good.” She said, “Alright, well show me a picture of him.” So I whip out my phone... and realize I don’t have a single photo of Owen. I told her I’d get one. Later that week at a family gathering, I took a sneaky picture of him and sent it to her — and she was smitten. Love at first sight... maybe. I don’t actually know. Then Sophia had the brilliant idea that we should take another trip out to Trestle Creek and invite Owen. And I thought, “I’m not doing that, nice try!” But for the sake of true love, I braved the swimmer’s itch one more time. We picked up Owen — shoutout to Tia for driving — and on the way we stopped for mini golf and ice cream. I remember Sophia judging the type of ice cream Owen got, and I think those were the first words she ever spoke to him. Then we got to Trestle, had a great day, and they actually talked — just as me and Reagan schemed. A night or two later, Owen and I had a sleepover, and I asked him, “Hey, do you like anyone?” and he said, “Well... your friend Sophia’s cute.” And I thought, perfect — our plan worked. The rest is history. All thanks to one quick trip to Trestle Creek. Now here we are — these two are getting married, and it’s awesome.” Reagans version: "When we were 14/15 our friend group consisted of Corbin, Reagan, and Sophia. We would hangout all the time, either at Sophia’s house, the park or church activities. But Corbin soon introduced us to Owen (his cousin) at a party, making our friend group now 4 people! And even though the two wouldn’t admit it then, it was love at first sight. A couple years after that we were all 16/17 and the dating had started. I had met a boy and started dating him, and Corbin was in magrath doing who knows what. Making it easy for the four of us (me, boy, Sophia, Owen) to go on group dates. But as me and this boy got more serious we started hanging out 1v1 more often. Meaning Sophia and Owen had to spend more time together 1v1. If I had not had this boyfriend then Sophia and Owen would not have had the push to start dating. Obviously besides their undying love for one another. Though I will admit that both me and Corbin were the spokesman in their ears begging them to admit their feelings for one another."
We were introduced during a hangout with Owen's cousin, who was friends with Sophia and Reagan. Sophia had been pushing Corbin to invite Owen out to Trestle Creek with them, where her family had a trailer near the pool/waterslides. Eventually near the end of the summer break ended the 4 of them were able to go! Sophia's mom, Tia, drove them out the 1 hour drive. When Owen was getting in the car Sophia was quite nervous, and like any reasonable person who had a crush, avoided all eye contact and conversation with him. About 45minutes later they arrived at Seba Beach mini golf, where now they could really show off their skills ...in who can hit the ball the most times. Then we all got ice cream, Sophia and Owen both getting Tigers Tail, which is a Canadian specialty of orange with black liquorice. We know what you're thinking (ew). Which is why us finding someone else who enjoyed this awesome goodness was an exciting surprise! Then we finished the drive and hit up the water slides! Something Sophia learned that day was that boys tend to go much MUCH slower on waterslides... because of their longer swim suits. So what a more romantic way to meet your future husband than as the song goes, "I came in like a wrecking ball"... literally. But by the end of the day the 4 of us were very close friends, and planned to get together again soon. After a long time, more hangouts, and holding hands. Owen and Sophia agreed to wait to start dating until after their missions. Fast forward almost a year, and with the friend group changing after Corbin moved and Reagan getting a boyfriend, they decided to start dating! 20 months and mission prep later, Owen left to Chile and Sophia left to New Hampshire, both Spanish speaking. We kept contact throughout the mission, and kept open minds (but hopes) for when we retuned home. Then Summer of 2025 Owen and Sophia first saw each other again at the institue dating activity. Trying very hard to pay attention to their seperate group dates. Then after adjusting to home life and getting into the YSA scene a little more, we talked a lot and knew exactly what we wanted. So within the week became exclusive, (that night Sophia telling Owen about her great grandma's ring), and about a month later Owen planned a romantic proposal!
