My first Mass as an Auburn student I ran into & was introduced to Owen Ross. Right then, went to Zaxby’s. We still remember our conversation over shared buffalo chicken nuggets. We continued going to Mass together, began helping each other in ways the other was lacking, but mostly just making each other laugh. On Nov. 11, 2017, Owen left the jaw-dropping Auburn/Georgia game early to make our relationship official. Three years later, I went to meet my Bible Study at the Frassati Chapel to pray. I didn’t have my glasses on, but eventually realized it was not my Bible Study but a clean-shaven Owen. I laughed while he tried to romance me into saying “yes”, as he got down on one knee. One more year later, we are here asking you to join us while we say “yes” again, in front of God to begin this vocation together.
Lord, as we prepare for the sacrament of marriage, we come to ask what you desire from us. Guide us to know your will. May we look to your love for us as our model of how we are to love each other. Show us how to nourish and cherish each other as we would our own bodies. Bring your strength to our weakness so that we might help each other grow into people you created us to be. Enable us to grow in our intimacy with you and with each other so that we might experience the fullness of your love. Thank you for the gift of marriage so that we can more fully understand your love for us. Amen.
