On a warm summer’s evening, way past everyone’s bedtime, this love story began. It all started in February 2020, when Lex and Josh met for the very first time and instantly clicked. You know the kind of click that makes you think, “Oh. This person is going to be important.” Following an absolute humdinger of an evening, Lex woke up to a sweet message from Josh, an elite move, really. Subtle, charming, and perfectly aligned with what was to come. They chatted a bit, laughed a lot, and then life did what life does best. Got busy. The story hit a brief intermission with Josh back in Cape Town and Lex in Durbs, until the world suddenly pressed pause. Lockdown arrived, plans vanished, and a fast-paced life eased up. Lex, being both brave and slightly curious, thought, “Why not reach out? His banter is unrivaled!” Cue the endless messages and “five-minute” conversations that ended hours later. Somewhere between midnight snacks, laughing at admittedly terrible jokes, and a never-ending debate about everything (this is how Lex got her nickname Siri), the story picked up speed. Then came their first getaway: a weekend at Mbona. The kind of place that feels like it should come with background music. They insisted they were “just friends”, while actions suggested otherwise (we all know the old saying about which one speaks louder). Weekends away, late-night cards, mornings on the golf course, and afternoons around the pool. No chance the “friend” story was holding up. Months passed until Josh finally made it official. No more pretending. No more air quotes. Just like that, the rest was history, laughter, adventures, and core memories formed. Fast forward four and a half years, countless inside jokes no one else will (or should) ever understand, and a love that survived the most intense real-life situations: looting, floods, lockdowns, and decisions like “What do you want for dinner?” or “I'm just having one more drink.” This story of Josh and Lex culminated at the one place that still held a very special spot in their hearts; Mbona. And there, right where it all began, Josh popped the question, a full-circle event. And now, with hearts full and excitement building, Lex and Josh can’t wait to celebrate the next chapter of their story with you, their closest and most dear.
