Question

What is the difference between the Nikkah and the Walima?

Answer

Nikkah is the Islamic marriage ceremony where the marriage contract is signed and vows are exchanged. It's a sacred and spiritual event. Walima is the wedding feast hosted to celebrate the marriage. It’s typically more festive and includes food, speeches, and celebration with guests.

Question

What should I wear to the Walima?

Answer

Formal or traditional attire is welcomed. Women may wear dresses or abayas; men may wear suits or formal traditional wear.

Question

Can I take photos or videos?

Answer

Please be mindful—photography is restricted. There will be a professional photographer for the event.

Question

Can I bring children?

Answer

We kindly ask that parents do not bring children during the ceremony out of respect for its formality. We appreciate your understanding.
