INT. LIVING ROOM - NIGHT January 2022 Our protagonists match on Hinge and begin a 3-day texting marathon. Both are home not working due to health issues (C is sick and E with a broken foot). The chemistry is high and the movie quotes are flowing. On the third day, the first in-person date is being planned and the latest cat cuddling picture comes through. Ethan reaches the devastating conclusion that his cat allergies are so cat-astrophically bad there’s no way he can handle a long term relationship that includes a kitten as cuddly as Chelsea's Tobi-Girl. With sad acceptance, Chelsea requests a farewell watch of her favourite movie – Mr. Right – together-yet-apart via text before parting ways. With bittersweet butterflies in his stomach, Ethan enthusiastically agrees. They push play on Mr. Right at the same time, texting constantly throughout. At the conclusion of the film, Chelsea changes his contact information to “Ethan text in 2035.” INT. KITCHEN - AFTERNOON November 20, 2022 As our protagonists are preparing for Thanksgiving, Ethan can’t help but reach back out. His foot has healed, his career at United has begun, and he can't stop thinking about Chelsea. After confirming his allergies are still in place, the two work on finding dealbreakers that can nip this love in the bud and help them move on. Dancing? Children? Quick to patience or quick to anger? What percentage do you tip? Christian? Cuddler? Annoyingly, their answers just bring them closer together. After some debate and a romantic denial of “just friends,” the two part ways again with amicable well wishes. INT. LIVING ROOM - NIGHT July 16 2023 Ethan’s had a string of rotten dates and reaches out a final time. He has to be sure. He knows this girl is beyond special and would be remiss not to check one last time, allergies be damned. Intrigued, Chelsea’s watching her parents’ house with Tobi-girl, but the allergies still stand. INT. APARTMENT - EVENING July 28, 2023 Chelsea now has dating and Ethan back on her mind. She and Tobi-girl are back at her place, and Tobi-girl has not adjusted well going back to a small apartment. Chelsea’s parents recently mentioned how much they love having Tobi and are thinking of adopting a cat. (Allergies problem solved?) Chelsea downloads Bumble and begins to swipe. Ethan’s profile pops up. Frustratingly, he’s just as cute as the first time they connected with his adorable profile and stupidly cute pictures. After extensive internal deliberation, instead of swiping left or right, she goes to her filters, narrows them down, and begins to swipe. Several swipes in, Ethan comes up again. Her uncertain heart resists swiping on him, either way, so she narrows filters further. She even decides to pay for the premium filtering options. Yet again, after several swipes, who appears but our man. One more time she filters, hard as she can, with all the processing might Bumble can offer. And when her future man shows up yet again, she follows fate’s decision. Chelsea opens her phone and texts Ethan… EXT. MINNEAPOLIS AIRPORT - MIDNIGHT July 29, 2023 Ethan is just outside the airport, walking to the hotel van. Turning off Airplane Mode, he sees the most important text of his life: “Okay. When’s our first date, Mr. Right?”
