Sometimes the universe has a planโand sometimes that plan includes cheese fries, hot air balloons, and a surprise proposal mid-sandwich. We met while working for CPD. It wasnโt sparks flying over spreadsheets or patrol shiftsโbut a little moment of fate when Austin mentioned my hometown, El Paso, Texas. From there, something just clicked. We found ourselves deep in conversation, not just about work, but about all the places near El Paso we both lovedโWhite Sands, Pistachioland, Scenic Drive. It was the beginning of something special. Our adventures quickly went from shared stories to shared memories. From wandering through Pistachioland and exploring Carlsbad Caverns, to soaring above the clouds in a hot air balloon and horseback riding through beautiful landscapesโwe were falling in love with each other and with every moment we share together. Through it all, I came to realize that there was a single thread of gold that tied me to youโwoven through every quirky coincidence, every shared moment, and every adventure. It was always meant to be. One of our favorite early memories was a spontaneous night out: a movie date followed by a walk through Newport where a tiny carnival was in full swing. We laughed, we rode the rides, and somewhere in the middle of all that fun, we both kind of knewโthis was it. And yes... cheese fries played a role in our love story too. We discovered (with mild embarrassment and major excitement) that we always order the same meal without planning it. Itโs the little things like thatโour shared quirks, favorite foods, and always being on the same wavelengthโthat make our connection so unique. Then came the proposal. It was at the same restaurant where we had our very first date. I knew something was up when Austin wasnโt eating (very out of character!). Before I could ask what was going on, he stood up, dropped to one knee, and asked me to be his forever. My heart was so full, I barely remember what I saidโbut spoiler alert: it was a big YES. We come from different places, different paths, even different generationsโbut somehow, weโve always felt like we were meant to find each other. Weโre so excited to keep exploring the world togetherโone state, one laugh, and one plate of cheese fries at a time.
