Our Story

It all started with a "no"

No, you're thinking of a different Zach No, you can't ask her on a date right now No, I'm not ready to date you yet 10/17 (Alex) Thanks, Paul Nieman, for moving Zach to Braselton. Even if I thought he was a different Zach. No thanks for saying he can't date me at first ;) 6/18 (Zach) Because I was a resident, it made things complicated. When I decided I wanted to ask Alex on a date, I went straight to my boss, Seth White (SETHERY!), & he talked to Paul. Paul said no. Cool. A few weeks later, I was with our campus pastor, Dan, & he asked me if there were any girls on the horizon. Of course, I told him I wanted to ask Alex out but I knew it was complicated & that was okay. Dan instantly said he'd call Paul & fight for us - THANKS DAN! Hours later, Dan said it was cool to ask her out. Dope. 7/18 All my friends knew I was going to ask her out, & they kept bugging me for updates. We even had an emoji system for her response: poop for no, praise hands for yes. My plan was to ask her at our fave coffee shop. I had the perfect chance, but got cold feet & chickened out. Megan Prichard saw it & yelled at me to go chase her. I didn't. So we crafted a plan. Megan found free bowling that night. I asked Alex if she wanted to go bowling with me, but she said she would only go if I got a group - So I did. I have good friends. We went, we flirted, we bowled. I walked her out to her car & finally got the courage to ask. Poop emoji. We warned you, it all started with a "no." She told me she wasn't ready yet, but I'm persistent. A week later, she said yes. PRAISE HANDS. 8/18 (Alex) Zach swept me off my feet that night with the best first date ever. Two Urban Licks (if you ever go there, get the empanadas... THE EMPANADAS!). After dinner, we went to Jenis & Zach shoved ice cream in my face. Classic. Then we walked along the beltline & found a place to watch the sunset. We talked there for hours. We still do... & the rest, our friends, is history. See you at our wedding!
