Question

What is Sauble Beach like?

Answer

The people with the funny accent who always smell like maple syrup and hockey pucks call Sauble Beach "the Carribean of Canada." For me, it's all my favorite things in one place. You can go hiking, boating, camping or just have a lazy beach day! The downtown area has quite a few shops including arcades and activity centers for the tiny humans. There's also ice cream parlors for your sweet tooth and great restaurants and bars that smell SO GOOD! Also, everything is so close! Mom and Dad bicycle everywhere and I get to ride in the basket! Checkout our “Things To Do” tab on the website for more info on my approved activities.

Question

How do I get there?

Answer

Mom and Dad used to drive from NYC. It's about a 10 hour nap. But, the quickest way to Sauble is to fly into Toronto and then drive North! It takes 2-3 hours from any Toronto airport. Don’t forget to pack treats for the trip. If you need a ride from the airport, let Mom and Dad know.

Question

Where do we stay?

Answer

Mom and Dad like to stay at the Kit-Wat Motel because they know me there (wink). But there's other options; one has a pool - The June Motel, and the other I can smell the beach from the rooms - The Sands Hotel. Or you could stay at a house off VRBO or AirBnB. Don't worry, I'll be on Squirrel patrol!!!

Question

What should I do while I'm in Sauble?

Answer

Everything! Nothing! Both? Sauble is a summer vacation destination for Ontario, so there are so many options! I climbed rocks and chased squirrels on our 5 mile hike to Lion's Head Peak (Bruce Trail McCurdy Trailhead) and also explored all the caves nearby (Bruce's Caves, The Grotto)! I've also canoed up the Sauble River to Sauble Falls, Kayaked to the beach below Lion's head (Isthmus Bay - Lion's Head), run on the beach, bicycled along the dunes, swam in the crystal clear water, blocked Dad's shots at putt-putt, watched sunsets on patios (Sola's), and looked for delicious scraps at lunch (The Beach Burger). But, my favorite thing to do is to enjoy the quiet at night. I look forward to cuddling with all of you! (You each get exactly 2 minutes)

Question

Is the Wedding Kid-Friendly?

Answer

Mom and Dad love your little humans and so do I (as long as they don't pull on my hair). They are welcome at any of our welcome events and the wedding ceremony. But once the reception begins at 5pm and the music starts, no little humans for that (that includes my sister Ellawyn too)... even I'm going to bed. Mom and Dad will be providing a list of babysitters in the area recommended by the venue owners (who are locals), so the little humans can do.... whatever it is they do I guess? I'll be napping. If you need to talk to my Mom and Dad about it, please send them a text or email to discuss.

Question

What do I wear?

Answer

So… uh… I hate clothes, but even I am dressing up a bit. Mom says, the event is “semi-formal” — suits and cocktail dresses. Shoes are optional for the ceremony so you can have sandy paws like me, but you’ll have to wear them for the reception.

Question

When should I book my travel?

Answer

So, there’s this giant tournament-thing in the big city where humans chase around a black and white ball on the field with their feet rather than just picking it up, which means you may want to book your flights as early as you can. The homes on AirBnB & VRBO book up by end of January/mid-February and there are some alternative booking sites Mom and Dad can send you the link to, if you bark loud enough from wherever you are.

Question

What’s the Welcome Party?

Answer

TACOS!!…. and drinks, but mostly TACOS!!!!! There will also be something Dad insists on calling “The First Annual Ouderkirk/Duemmler Invitational Putt-Putt Tournament”. I will be the Rules Official. I am easily bribed.

Question

Do you have a registry?

Answer

Yes, it’s a treat fund. ONLY A TREAT FUND! Ok fine… the truth is Mom and Dad love people even more than I do and just want you to come if you can (trust me, it’s a long trip). That’s the only present they’re asking for! If you absolutely INSIST on gifting something there is a registry tab. TREATS ARE EXPECTED THOUGH!
