Otteria and Richard were introduced to each other one Wednesday night at Bible Study at St. Stephen Baptist Church in Louisville, KY. At that time, Richard was a student at Simmons College of Kentucky, and Otteria was a student at The University of Louisville School of Dentistry. They were both volunteers for a youth summer program that met every Wednesday and Sunday. However, Richard had noticed Otteria a few weeks prior to the start of the program and unknowingly to him, she had noticed him as well! Of course, they each have their own version regarding the details that led up to that day, but shortly after, they began dating and the rest is history!

What Otteria thought was a simple date night with their friends turned out to be a romantic rooftop proposal. That Saturday evening, Otteria and Richard headed to Fahrenheit restaurant in Uptown Charlotte with their friends and had a great time enjoying the nice weather on the patio before being seated inside. After being seated, the waiter suggested it was the perfect time to take a picture outside because the sun was just starting to set and the views overlooking the city were amazing! As they headed back out to take the photo, Richard dropped to one knee and popped the question!
