Question

Where is the wedding?

Answer

Our wedding is going to be at Generations Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico on Friday, March 7th, 2025. This is an all-inclusive resort that shares property with two other resorts-- El Dorado Royale and El Dorado Casitas. Guests may stay at any of these three resorts and will be able to attend the wedding. If you are bringing children under the age of 18, you will stay at Generations as that is the only family-inclusive resort. If you would like a quieter experience, we recommend staying at El Dorado Casitas which is a smaller and more intimate resort. Guests at any of these resorts may dine at restaurants at El Dorado or Generations, though children may be limited to the restaurants of Generations. El Dorado Royale is the most centrally located, though there are shuttles that run from all 3 resorts throughout the day. Osha and Thomas are visiting the resort at the end of February and will be able to answer any residual questions after that! Please ask away :)

Question

Can I stay for different dates?

Answer

We encourage you to stay as long as you would like! We recommend staying at least 3 nights, so ideally from March 6th-9th (Thursday-Sunday), but will gladly vacation with you longer! We will likely be staying March 4th-14th.

Question

Do I have to stay at the resort?

Answer

The resort requires that guests stay at one of the three resorts to attend the wedding. There may be exceptions in which you could purchase a day pass to only attend on the day of the wedding, though this is not guaranteed. Please reach out to Osha with further questions on this topic.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

The resorts require semi-formal wear for dinner, and shirts and t-shirts that are not wet for breakfast and lunch. For dinner, men should wear slacks, khakis, dress shorts, or nice jeans, and close-toed shoes with a button-up or collared shirt. Women should wear a dress, a blouse and a skirt or dress pants/shorts, and fancy sandals or close-toed shoes. No baseball hats, t-shirts, flip flops, etc. The wedding is semi-formal; the ceremony will be held on a pier overlooking the ocean, and the reception will be held on the roof. Bring your dancing shoes (if this means flip flops or tennis shoes instead of heels, I'm all for it!)

Question

Any tips for items to bring?

Answer

Travel items for all-inclusive resorts: - Sunglasses and sunscreen - Cover ups - Small bag to carry towels, books, etc for the beach - Cash (in US $1 bills) for tipping servers - Water shoes for the ocean (it is rocky) - Tumbler and/or reusable straws for drinks-- they do not like to use straws due to the harm it can cause to wildlife, and the resorts are very encouraging of bringing your own tumbler (it keeps your drink cold and you can get more volume so less time having to go back to the bar). However, this is not required. - Your dancing shoes and a good attitude. It's vacation!

Question

Are there any activities planned for wedding guests?

Answer

Stay tuned! We are working on this. If there are any excursions that you want to be sure to do (the Tulum ruins are nearby; there is also nearby snorkeling, golf, cenote tours, ziplining, and more), please reach out to Osha and/or Estefani to help plan!
