The Whitewater Center is one of our favorite places in Charlotte! It’s a massive outdoor adventure park with live music, restaurants, and tons of space to just hang out by the water. Admission to the grounds is free (after parking), and activities are pay-as-you-go.

The Rail Trail is a fun, walkable path that runs alongside Charlotte’s light rail, stretching through South End. Along the path, you’ll find public art, breweries, coffee shops, and plenty of spots to grab a snack or hang out. A great place to start is near Sycamore Brewing or Atherton Mill - there’s usually street parking nearby or in one of the nearby public decks.
