Best Man
Oscar and Mikyle, Thunder and Lightning, the two met at GPC church over 10 years ago where Mikyle quickly grew a man-crush on Oscar with his blacked out goth wear, spiked cowboy hat, and his signature spider earring. Oscar would then admire Mikyle’s 1000 talents of music, fashion, nerd encyclopedia, and natural charisma. Oscar would rely on Mikyle’s abilities as he dived nose deep into big random projects that were over his head and became a dependable backbone to his success. In fact, Mikyle was the unsuspecting wingman for Oscar even though Mikyle had a small crush on Theda. Mikyle and Theda’s 1 on 1 conversations would lead to her to realize that she was going to have to take the initiative to date Oscar. We all know how that turned out. Oscar and Mikyle would continue to reveal their true selves over time as their soft facade of the world would fade. Eventually culminating in a moment of realizing that “man should not be alone.” Although Theda is the last person Oscar will give a ring to, Mikyle was the first. Mikyle is the lightning to Oscar’s thunder.
Maid of Honor
Our maid of honor is Theda's younger sister, Nicole. With only 16 and a half months and one school grade between them, Nicole and Theda grew up quite close. From playing teacher and house together to navigating teenage years and young adulthood side by side, they’ve shared countless memories that have shaped who they are today. Though they have different interests and personalities, their bond has never wavered. It’s no surprise, then, that when Theda began spending time with Oscar, Nicole was the first to notice something brewing. The first time that she met Oscar, she asked, “Are you guys dating?” before Theda had even realized there might be something more than friendship. She followed it up with, “Just wondering, because he looks like your type,” and left it at that—planting a seed that, as we now know, would grow into something beautiful. Nicole has always seen Theda clearly—sometimes before Theda even sees herself. That’s why there was never any doubt that Nicole would stand by her side, not just as a sister, but as her maid of honor, her confidante, and her lifelong best friend.

The dynamic delinquent cousins, Oscar and Chanel’s adolescence consisted of getting teased by their older siblings, so they ended up becoming baby wankstas on the playground. Their tight bond meant that if someone tried to pick a fight with one of them, they had to deal with both of them. Oscar and Chanel would hang out every weekend playing legos, yugioh, sims 2, living room baseball, and of course 2v2 basketball against the older cousins. But Oscar would solidify his title as the boy who “got beat by gurl” when a Vietnamese uncle watched his crushing defeat to Chanel in a 1v1 match. Unfortunately, their high school years would put their relationship on pause as life hit them. But after a few summers of shooting nerf guns, their delinquent bond would reappear again as if nothing changed. Remembering and rekindling their care for one another, and refilling their lost hearts with each other. Their stupid antics will continue as they walk together as the caretakers of their family.
Bridesmaid
Theda has always seen Sarah as another little sister. Growing up, Sarah was folded seamlessly into the chaos and joy of Theda and Nicole’s world—whether she liked it or not. From playing “house” to being cast in whatever imaginary roles Theda had dreamed up that day (often against her will), Sarah was always part of the trio. She may not have asked to be the student in endless rounds of “pretend school,” but she played along with patience, eye rolls, and the kind of love only family shares. As they grew older, life got busier. Sarah became notoriously hard to get a hold of, earning the affectionate title of “3-to-5-business-days responder”. But despite her unpredictable text habits, when Theda reached out to ask if she would be a bridesmaid, Sarah replied instantly—with a resounding yes. That moment said it all. No matter how chaotic life gets or how long it takes to return a message, Sarah has always been there when it counts. Her quick “yes” was more than just a response—it was a reminder that, when it really matters, Sarah shows up. And that’s why Theda couldn’t imagine this day without her.
Groomsman
A Jesus ordained friendship, their relationship would begin before they even met. God would put in on Oscar’s heart to pray for an old member of GPC, and after a few weeks Noah would come out. Weird Oscar would end up convincing another person to join his board game brigade. Through mansions of madness, cosmic encounters, and rage quitting Overwatch their friendship grew over moments of escape. But when life happened, they would find dependability on one another. Good times or bad times they always shared and leaned on each other as rocks against waves of unpredictability. Noah even got buff to help Oscar’s literal countless requests to move furniture, boxes or people. As an unforeseen consequence this would also mean his appetite to grow to eat all of Oscar’s snacks. Their friendship isn’t just built on talking the talk but truly walking the walk.
Bridesman
Dmitri is one of Theda’s best friends and closest confidants. He’s been the sounding board for nearly every one of Theda’s thoughts, schemes, spirals, and overreactions—because let’s be honest, Theda is a chronic overthinker. If it needs a second opinion (which is about 90% of her life), it goes through Dmitri first. Whether it’s a big life decision or the wording of a mildly passive-aggressive email, he’s probably weighed in. These two know way too much about each other—but that’s what happens when friendship is built on years of trust, late-night talks, chaotic debates, and deeply specific inside jokes that no one else understands. They’re opposites in many ways, but in the ways that count, they’re perfectly aligned. One of the surest signs of their bond? The way they can spend literal hours arguing—and still walk away unscathed, unbothered, and somehow even closer. It’s a friendship made of patience, perspective, and shared nerdiness, and Theda wouldn’t be who she is today without him.

Another lasting friendship from GPC church, Nathan noticed Oscar as he was multitasking worship audio, slides, and recording the sermon in the back of the room. Despite the busyness, Nathan would initiate the brotherly relationship with the overworked Oscar. Unfortunately, this just meant they would just try to outdo one another in kindness and serving. From fighting over the check, to taking on more tasks than they probably should have. Nathan would win the kindness battle, but Oscar would defend him if anyone tried to take advantage of that kindness. Their bond would grow physically through trying to climb higher in bouldering (Oscar won that battle) and spiritually through the many long conversations about Christianity and relationships. The two may be separated now through the states, but they are always ready to cook a feast for their loved ones and serve with the love of Jesus.

Minh and Theda have been best friends for many years—since high school, to be exact. Over that time, they’ve grown from awkward teenagers meeting through League of Legends to adults navigating careers, relationships, and everything in between. Through every chapter, Minh has been a steady, loyal presence—always there to lend a listening ear, crack a perfectly timed joke, or show up exactly when Theda needed someone in her corner. Their friendship has seen it all: late-night heart-to-hearts, spontaneous adventures, countless bubble tea runs, and, of course, more video games than anyone can count. So it was only natural that when Theda found herself wanting to play board games, Minh was her first go-to. And in true Minh fashion, he had the perfect suggestion. “Why don’t you play with my friend?” he said. That friend’s name? Oscar. That’s right—Minh was the one who introduced Theda to the man who would become her partner for life. The quiet genius behind the scenes who made the most important connection of all. And whether he knew it at the time or not, he helped spark something truly special. Looking back, it’s hard to imagine this love story without Minh. His friendship has shaped so much of Theda’s life, and now, it’s woven into the beginning of her future with Oscar. What a blessing indeed.
Groomsman
Tony was one of the first friends Oscar would meet at GPC church after his crazy trip in Korea. Tony was the most genuine and honest person he met there, unfortunately that also meant that he was honest with his temper and questionable choice of words. Although Oscar had a cool impression at church, Tony was the only one who would hang out with him at the beginning. They would spend their Sunday afternoon buying burgers and calamari for each other as the other broke selves would wait for their paycheck. Then they would proceed to play diablo 3 until Tony convinced Oscar to play a fighting game with him, where Tony would complain about his controller if Oscar actually won. Over the years they would grow and change with each other, and now many people don’t even know the Red Lantern Tony. Tony would be one of the most loyal and dependable friends for Oscar and never questioned any of his crazy requests for help.
