How We Met

Emily’s Version We met at Denny’s more than eight years ago when Oscar was jumping over tables. He had long hair and hung out with some interesting characters, so I didn’t really think of him as boyfriend material. A year and a half later, some friends thought we would be good together, and he finally asked me out. Doing it two weeks in advance made my planner heart happy. When we finally had our first date, Oscar called three hours before he was supposed to pick me up to let me know he was going to be late. That’s when I knew he was the one for me. Oscar’s Version I first remember seeing Emily at a meeting in Pacific Grove on Sunday night. I started seeing her around with mutual friends. I always thought she was very classy (little did I know!). I recall seeing her once at a party in Castroville. We were asked if we wanted to try eating grasshoppers. I watched her curiously take a grasshopper and eat it. At that moment, I knew she wasn’t too classy for me! After that, I thought to myself if I ever get a chance, I will shoot my shot. Then, a friend of ours suggested that we go on a date. I was working two jobs and going to school so finding time was difficult, and I had to schedule my first date with her two weeks in advance. We went hiking, something I rarely do. She got a good laugh because I showed up wearing a Mexican gardner hat. When she started to laugh at me, I knew we were gonna have a good time. The rest is history. P.S. Not a day goes by when she doesn’t laugh at me.

The Proposal

It's a super romantic story. We were watching TV at home, both wearing pajamas. We'd always said we'd get married when it made sense. It finally made sense!
