Our Story

12.06.2017

We first met over the summer before our sophomore year of high school during a school internship. He was captivated by my guitar playing, and I was equally enamored with his musical taste. We spent the entire summer together, becoming practically inseparable. Our friendship endured long after that summer, and we even attended our high school prom as a couple. As Oscar prepared to leave for college, life took an unexpected turn, and we drifted apart. Despite his feelings for me, I was unable to reciprocate his emotions at the time due to various reasons. After a couple of years of silence, I found myself deeply missing him and our friendship. Gathering my courage, I reached out to him during his junior year of college, unsure of how he would react. To my surprise, he also missed our friendship. After a long-awaited reunion, I began to fall deeply in love with him. Initially, I was a cynical and self-denying person, denying my feelings, life choices, and dreams for many reasons and for a considerable period. It took me a significant amount of time to realize that Oscar was the most kind, loving, forgiving, humble, and supportive person I had ever encountered. Unable to contain my emotions any longer, I finally confessed my love to him before he had the chance to. Oscar had always maintained that he knew from the beginning that I was his dream girl. Even to this day, he reminds me that our relationship was worth the wait and that our love story is truly a testament to the enduring power of connection.

Our Proposal💍🤍

I had decided to propose at the Adler Planetarium on our 6 year anniversary, since that’s where we had our very first date. I had been planning on proposing for over a year. So, I would try to be subtle when asking Aurora about who she would want to be there, what kind of ring shape she liked, what color, etc. The only people who knew were my parents and her parents. I told them in October over dinner. Because Aurora wanted her siblings there, her parents and I needed to figure out a way of getting them all together on a random Wednesday night. Luckily, the planetarium has a weekly free “Night at the Planetarium” every Wednesday! So, the parents told the siblings that they bought them tickets and that they were non-refundable. Long story short, they were all able to make it! I had made Aurora a pretty lengthy video showcasing the 10 years of us knowing each other that I was planning on showing her at the planetarium; however, it was VERY cold that day. So, I decided to show her the video in the morning while we were enjoying breakfast. Throughout the video, I had added several pictures subtlety showcasing the promise ring I had gifted her early on in the relationship. At the end of the video, I included a message saying “I love you, Aurora…Here’s to forever ❤️”. Of course she was oblivious to all this. Once we were at the planetarium later that evening, I had us sit facing the skyline. My parents and her family were behind us, above a staircase, videotaping what was about to happen. I asked her if she was ready for her last gift, and directed her to where everyone was. She was very confused, but when she turned towards me, I got down on one knee. The rest is history 💕
